Process

First a discussion for what style of shoe/boot is desired, and then the required measurements and tracings can be gathered for that style of footwear. A pair of bespoke lasts will be created with the data collected and a pair of shoes will be made up for a test fitting. Sometimes, especially for new clients, 2 rounds of fitting shoes will be required for a proper fit. After which, it is likely that fittings will no longer be needed for that particular style of shoe. Footwear styles that require their own, separate fittings are as follows: Slip-ons/Loafers/Elastic-gusseted shoes, Lace-up Derby/Oxford/Monk shoes, Lace-up boots, Zip & Chelsea boots, and Pull-on boots without lacing.

Once the fittings are complete, the final footwear is made up. Each shoe is lasted, welted, soles stitched, and finished by hand. The lasts are then pulled from the completed footwear and are sent to a shoe-tree maker to be copied exactly, for the wooden trees to made. The trees are fitted into the finished shoes or boots and are then ready for collection.
